COVID-19 Vaccine Information

The Florida Department of Health in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties and their partners are collaborating to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine in Northwest Florida. Beginning Monday, March 29, all individuals age 40 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Beginning the following Monday, April 5, all individuals age 18 and older will be eligible to receive the vaccine.

Floridians are encouraged to pre-register at www.myvaccine.fl.gov. Once pre-registered, they’ll be contacted when the vaccine is available in their area. Floridians can also call the vaccine preregistration phone number for their county.

Vaccines are also available at 150 CVS locations, 125 Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations, more than 70 Winn Dixie locations, soon-to-be over 600 Walgreens pharmacies, and every single one of the 730 Publix pharmacies across the state.


Vaccination Appointments Available at Baptist Health Care

Beginning April 5, all Florida residents age 18 or older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Baptist Health Care is offering vaccines starting April 6 at Baptist Medical Park – Nine Mile located at 9400 University Parkway in Pensacola. UWF students, even those who hold residency in other states, but are in Pensacola to attend UWF, may make appointments for the vaccine.

Vaccinations will be given by appointment only. No walk-ins will be available.

How to Make a Vaccination Appointment

Appointments can be made one of three ways:

  1. Visit EasySchedule.com. Click “procedure appointment” and complete the registration.
  2. Email name and contact information to BHCVaccine@bhcpns.org.
  3. Call 850.908.SHOT (7468), Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Additional Guidance for non-Florida Resident Students 

  • Students seeking to schedule via email or phone call should indicate that they are UWF students.
  • Students should be aware that one of the screening questions on the online scheduler asks, “Are you a Florida resident?” Students are asked to select “yes” to this question since the student is living in Florida for school.
  • Students who are not residents of Florida but attending UWF should bring their student ID with them to the vaccination appointment.

Telehealth Services

Student Health Services is offering telehealth services to current students. Telehealth appointments are available from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. on weekdays. Appointments can be made by calling 850.474.2172.

  • Telehealth services will be offered though Spruce Healthcare and can be accessed through your desktop, laptop or mobile device. Complete instructions will be provided when appointment is made.
  • Unfortunately, there are some issues that cannot be handled by telehealth. This will be at the discretion of the provider. In those situations, for your health and safety, you may be directed to contact your primary care provider or visit an urgent-care center or emergency room for a face-to-face evaluation.

*Due to legal restrictions, students participating in Telehealth must be physically located within the state of Florida.


COVID-19 Rapid Testing Information

UWF Student Health Services is now performing rapid COVID-19 testing.

  • Appointments are required to receive the test. Appointments will be offered from 1–3 p.m. Monday–Friday.
  • Appointments must be scheduled before 11 a.m. to receive same-day testing (if there are open appointments).
  • The testing will be conducted outside of the Student Wellness Center (Building 960). Access the site best through Parking Lot A.
  • The test will be performed by a nurse, and you will receive your result within 15–20 minutes. You will not see a provider during this allotted time.
  • For any additional testing other than COVID-19 students must make a separate appointment with a provider.
  • Students must complete documentation prior to arriving for their appointment. This will be sent securely through DocuSign. If this is not completed before a student arrives for their appointment they will be rescheduled.
  • All students must adhere to campus safety protocols including completing the Daily COVID-19 Return to Campus Pre-screening before arriving for appointment.
  • At this time rapid COVID-19 testing is only being performed on students that have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days or is displaying symptoms of COVID-19.
