Research Administration & Engagement
Faculty at the University of West Florida are active scholars and researchers. UWF values research because it enriches the learning environment of our students, provides solutions to problems in our region, and contributes to the well-being of our community.
STATEMENT: Florida law requires that all state university employees "engaged in the design, conduct, or reporting of research" must disclose any and all outside activities and conflicts of interests. Pursuant to 1012.977 (FS), any such state university employee who fails to disclose such activities "shall be suspended without pay pending the outcome of an investigation which shall not exceed 60 days. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the university or entity may terminate the contract of the employee."
In association with the UWF Return to Campus Plan, limited on-campus and field research activities are being considered. UWF faculty may submit a petition for UWF employees (faculty, staff, and students) to return to on-campus or field-based research activities; all volunteer research efforts remain on hiatus at this time. This petition starts by submitting an application that describes the location, personnel, and nature of the proposed research activities for review by the AVP of Research Administration and the faculty member’s college Dean.
