Virtual Commencement: August 8, 2020 - 2:00 p.m. Central Time

Spring and summer graduates,

Our Argonaut family is incredibly proud of you. Commencement is a time to reflect on all that they have accomplished and how much you have grown. It is more than a ceremony; it is a significant milestone in the lives of our graduates and the loved ones who have supported them throughout their educational journey. Although we cannot honor our Argos in person at this time, we will still celebrate you and your incredible achievements.

Since the State University System of Florida has directed the University of West Florida and all other state universities to postpone in-person summer commencement ceremonies due to COVID-19 health guidelines on gatherings, we’re inviting you to join us for a virtual commencement ceremony on Saturday, August 8. Your family members, friends and faculty members are invited to celebrate this special milestone on UWF’s social media to comment, share and cheer you on.

Part of the ceremony will be a list of all graduates. Each graduate will receive a slide that will list your name and degree, including major and minor. We would also like to include one or two photos of you. These photos can be of you in your regalia, involved in an on-campus organization or event, or just something that celebrates your time as an Argo. If you would like to participate, we require that you submit the picture and information by July 24 at 9 p.m. CST. In addition, we ask that you follow the guidelines below for the photos to be included:

  • All photos must be appropriate for people of all ages, (it will be under the discretion of the Commencement Committee to determine the use of all photos).
  • Photos should be 300dpi (printable high resolution), preferably portrait orientation.
  • Both photos should be cropped to only include you due to potential privacy and permissions.

Please register to submit photos. If any of these guidelines are not met or if the photo is received after the deadline, then it may not be included in the celebration.

We are committed to providing every graduate an opportunity to participate in a future in-person ceremony once we are able to safely resume our regularly scheduled ceremonies. Information will be shared with the campus community via email and posted on social media when it becomes available.

We look forward to celebrating with you on August 8 and appreciate your adaptability during this time. Keep up the Argo spirit and go Argos!
