Dr. Steven Bitner, an Assistant Professor, conducts research in the area of Computational Geometry. His main area of focus is on point sets and proximity calculations in high dimensional space. He has published his findings in several peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals. Dr. Bitner has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Dr. Bitner served for 6 1/2 years in the US Navy and 15 years in the Navy Reserves and retired from the Reserves in 2017. Prior to coming to UWF, Dr. Bitner worked as a software simulation developer for the US Army, a senior software engineer for Answers Corporation, and the chief software architect for, among other roles.
