Elevator Pitch Contest
UWF students and recent graduates are encouraged to participate. Work in teams to pitch your business plans. First, submit a video entry to compete at the finals!
What is an Elevator Pitch?
An elevator pitch is a short presentation that promotes an idea. At this elevator pitch contest, you will explain and promote your business idea. Your elevator pitch will be delivered in a video and in a face-to-face presentation in front of a panel of judges. Judges will analyze several aspects of your idea, including the business model, the target audience, the brand image, and the forecasted profit.
The contest is open to all majors and recent graduates.
It has three elements:
I. Mini-seminars to help students prepare for the contest.
II. Semi-Finals: All participants in the EPC must register and submit a 2-minute video. Experts will judge the videos selecting eight to be finalists.
III. Finals: The top entrants will present their new ventures to a panel of community entrepreneurs and investors, answer questions and receive live advice and mentoring feedback. Presentations will be 10 minutes. The experience will be like Shark Tank, but with really nice people. Presentations will be April 11, 2020, at the Studer Community Institute.

How Do You Participate?
This contest is open to all UWF students and recent graduates.
Step 1: Develop a 1 to 2-minute video that explains your business idea. Your video elevator pitch is due March 8, 2020, to the form.
Note: The John C. Pace Library's Skylab has computers with Adobe Creative Suite, the premiere software for your video editing. In addition, there is always someone at the Skylab who can help you with the software.
Step 2: Finalists will be notified by March 11, 2020.
Step 3: Finalists will present a 20-minute oral elevator pitch on April 11, 2020, at the Studer Community Institute. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded.
The College of Business will host weekly seminars in February. These seminars are designed to prepare you for the contest.

Rules & Suggestions:
- UWF students, graduate or undergraduate and recent graduates (within one year), can compete. All projects must be student-led, but may leverage faculty research.
- The College of Business requires the contestant’s new venture to be a legal business, and not a charity—a non-profit social entrepreneurship without self-sustainable revenue—or an investment firm. The contest is for new ventures, startups not already operating commercialized businesses.
- The presentation must include: the problem/opportunity, market description, student’s unique solution, a two-year income statement, and next steps.
