The Office of Title IX Programs

The Title IX Programs office manages complaints of sexual misconduct (such as stalking and sexual harassment), sexual violence (such as dating violence and sexual assault/rape) and gender-based discrimination (differential treatment based on someone's gender or sex). The Title IX Programs office also provides training to the campus community and communicates what resources are available to students, faculty, and staff.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination based on sex and/or gender in federally funded programs or activities. The University of West Florida does not discriminate on the basis of sex and/or gender in its educational programs or activities. The University’s policies related to Title IX are the Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy (P-14.03-08/20) ("Title IX Policy") and the University Prohibition of Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation (P-13.09 -02/20).

In addition, most University employees (both faculty and staff) are considered Mandatory Reporters under the Title IX Policy. Mandatory Reporters are defined as any employee with the authority to address Title IX violation or any employee who a student may reasonably perceive to have the authority to address that misconduct. Mandatory Reporters are required to immediately notify the University’s Title IX Coordinator in the event that a student or employee discloses any alleged Title IX violation to him or her.

For inquiries concerning the application of Title IX and the federal regulations associated with the law, or to inquire regarding your status or responsibilities as a Mandatory Reporter, please contact the Title IX Coordinator (contact information below). Students, faculty or staff who believe that they are being discriminated against or harassed on the basis of sex and/or gender can seek advice, assistance, report incidents, and/or file complaints with any of the following individuals:
