What is Honors Convocation?
Honors Convocation is an annual celebration where faculty and students are recognized for their distinguished academic achievements. It is one of the university's most important academic traditions.
Who can attend?
The event is open to the public.
What about seating?
Seating is limited and on a first come basis.
Will classes be canceled?
Classes will be canceled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to allow students to attend the ceremony.
Are there Handicap services?
If you are receiving an award, and have special needs, please contact Patricia Barlow at firstname.lastname@example.org or 850.474.3085. A sign-language interpreter will also be on hand to translate.
What Student Awards will be presented?
Richard and Sandra Berg Scholar Athlete Award, Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, Outstanding Master's Thesis, Hal Crosby Leadership Award, Outstanding Undergraduate Students, President's Award for Leadership in Diversity (Student recipient).
What Faculty Awards will be presented?
Distinguished Faculty Service Award, Distinguished Research & Creative Activity Award, Distinguished Teaching Award, Faculty Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching & Advising Award, President's Award for Leadership in Diversity (Faculty recipient), Adjunct Faculty Excellence.
What about the President's Honor Roll?
Undergraduate students who earn a semester GPA of 3.90 or higher, on a minimum of six semester hours of graded ("A-F") course work at UWF, are recognized as making the President's Honor Roll for that semester. Students will receive a letter, via email, from the President recognizing their achievement. Please note there is no award given at Honors Convocation in relation to making the President's Honor Roll.
What about the Dean's Honor Roll?
Undergraduate students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50 - 3.89, on a minimum of six semester hours of graded ("A-F") course work at UWF, are recognized as making the Dean's Honor Roll for that semester. Students will receive a letter, via email, from the Dean recognizing their achievement. Please note there is no award given at Honors Convocation in relation to making the Dean's Honor Roll.
How long does it take to receive a President's or Dean's Honor Roll letter?
Due to the amount of time needed to process grades, letters are not sent until several weeks (2-4) from the conclusion of that semester.
