Division of Academic Affairs
The Division of Academic Affairs, under the leadership of the Provost and Senior Vice President, is responsible for establishing academic priorities and the allocation of resources to support those priorities.
The Provost works closely with the president and vice presidents, academic deans and student services, along with faculty and staff, to provide the highest levels of academic programs and high impact learning opportunities for students. The Division seeks to recruit and retain distinguished and diverse faculty and to provide support for faculty in the areas of teaching, research and service. Along these lines, the Division of Academic Affairs establishes policy on faculty evaluation, promotion and tenure. Higher education has roots deep in the Middle Ages and is steeped in tradition. At the University of West Florida, the Division of Academic Affairs, built upon an age-old foundation, is poised to direct initiatives that benefit our faculty and our students in the midst of an ever-changing and complex environment.

LEAD (Leadership, Enhancement, Activities & Development)
The University of West Florida offers high-level leadership development opportunities for faculty and staff members. LEAD, or Leadership, Enhancement, Activities & Development, fosters a community of leaders by encouraging team building through structured personal and interpersonal development. Each aspect of the program allows faculty and staff members to consider new ways of thinking through constructive, hands-on opportunities.
The program takes place during a year-long period, where faculty and staff members will hone their leadership skills through interactive workshops, round-table discussions, and strategy-building sessions developing solutions to issues affecting higher education, specifically UWF.
The program is led by Dr. Athena du Pré, Distinguished University Professor.
